I define family as a unit of people who normally form through a marriage . The family that you gain from a marriage can be extensive or small. A family can be those who are blood related but also those who may not be. Some people do not have the blessing of growing up with a supportive, or happy, family. Therefore, some people who have, in their opinion, no "family" look to role models in their life. People that support you are the people who are very valuable people in anyone's life.Families participate in your life immensely  They raise you, take care of you, feed you, support you, and help you grow into a person. The type of marriage that my parents participate in is a Total marriage. My parents are very much in love and from their marriage had me and my older brother Chris. I do not have an unsupportive family or a family that is judgmental. Family is something that is very important to me in my life.

  1. Hey Lauren, it was interesting to note your definition of family that it can be either blood-related but also may not be. I agree with you on this because I thought of family as only blood related people but after reading your discussion I was able to have a different view that long-term friends can also end up as a part of family. Also, children that live in orphanage homes do not have blood related person to care for them but still those people that volunteer to care about those orphans are family with no blood relation. Those people treat those orphans kids as their own children. It was very interesting to read your discussion.

  2. I agree with you Lauren. I am a family person too. If I live for 2 days away from my family, I get home sick. I am born and brought up in a conventional family started by a man and woman. I cannot think of a life without my family because my parents brought me in this world and supported me till today. I totally idolize my mother and want to be like her while raising my daughters. I owe my success or rather whatever I am today to my family. I want to set the same example to my kids.
